Coltrane) Best (1926-2015).

When searching for a blog idea the other day, I came across a decorating article, “70 Beautiful Foyers”. As it turns out, these foyers were larger than most people’s livingrooms. Most of us have an entry like this one where we believe there is no room for function. in these before and afters, they have added new, light colored flooring, a coat of light blue paint on the upper walls and beadboard, painted white, on the lower walls. This instantly brightens up and defines the space. Coat hooks give you somewhere to ‘hang your hat’ so to speak and a narrow table id a dropping spot for mail, keys, cell phones and mitts. The chair does not have to be large, just somewhere to put on your shoes. Painting it the same color as the walls helps it to blend in. Finish the space off with art, a mirror or in this case, a wreath.

Small Spaces – Big Seating

Small living room spaces don’t have to feel cramped. Make the most of your seating space with this tip. Choose occasional chairs with no arms or small, slim arms. This chair, for example, can seat two smaller people if necessary. That is because most of the square footage is given to the seat instead of the arms. They feel luxurious and roomy even though they’re not big. The “PEARL” chair from Korson Furniture (and available at Charter House Interiors), comes in ruby or teal (blue) with black powder coated legs.

Travel Tip For Toothbrushes

Here is a useful travel tip. If you want to keep toothbrushes from touching possibly dirty countertops, bring along clothespins and use them as a toothbrush stand. (we always stand our toothbrushes up in a hotel drinking glass after it has been washed by us). We also carry either clothes pins or binder clips to keep hotel drapes pinched tightly together.

The in-stock sectional consists of a right and left arm chair, two wedge pieces, one wedge table with tray and one round coffee table with glass. The fabric is as you see it here in DUPIONE CORNSILK. This set will not last long.

REGULAR: $7960.00  SALE: $4776.00

HILLSBORO: Gorgeous two toned taupe resin in a modern wide flat weave. Double walled woven construction over an aluminum frame means extra weight and an exquisitely finished exterior. Mix or match all the pieces. Dozens of fabric choices make this set your own style. Curvy 3″ aluminum legs make the Hillsboro appear more indoor than outdoor. TIP: Invest in furniture covers to protect this top of the line set.

Sunbrella fabrics: the best in the outdoor industry, are water repellent and are UV protected to resist fading and rotting. Cleaning: wipe the cushions with mild soap and water once a year or if there is a stain. Machine washing is not recommended as it breaks down the UV protection and the water repellent properties.

Foam: The large cell reticulated slab foam used in the seats, is quick dry and mold and mildew resistant.

Resin: The frames can be left outdoors all year (even in our harsh winters). We recommend covering the frames to avoid sun and snow damage through the winter. In the spring, wash with a garden hose or soapy water.

Use Baby Powder In Your Garden

9 brilliant reasons to use baby powder in your garden
Thank you to: Angela Brown, Contributing Writer

Baby powder is a powder-keg of home remedy ideas. From easing chaffing to freshening up the litter box, this handy item is good for more than protecting baby bottoms. Available at most stores (and on the cheap at some dollar stores), you’re going to want to stock up on a few bottles after you see how it can help your garden.
This innocent looking powder packs quite a punch and it will leave everything smelling just a little bit sweeter too!

1. Kiss ants goodbye: Get rid of the pesky picnic killers by sprinkling baby powder around the outside of your house. Ants don’t like the material and will stay away. Alternatively, you can try this 3-ingredient solution.

2. Protect plant roots: Protect your next batch of flowers from root rot, by coating them in baby powder. The powder protects the roots from too much moisture.

3. Freshen Fido: Keep your furry friend from bringing the outdoor stink inside by giving him a quick brush down with baby powder. It helps remove excess oil and leaves your pal smelling baby-fresh.

4. Get your gloves off : After a hard day of working in the garden, it can be a pain to get those sticky gloves off, Next time, coat the inside with a bit of baby powder before wearing them to make removal easier, Bold Sky suggests.

5. Keep your garden boots fresh: If your work boots (or sneakers) are starting to smell, add a little baby powder to the inside soles. The powder sucks up moisture preventing mold and stink.

6. Keep rabbits away: Fine Gardening recommends adding a bit of baby powder to young seeds to keep bunnies from noshing on the plants. (For older plants try garlic powder).

7. Buh-bye beetles: If Japanese beetles are infesting the garden and making a buffet of your favorite plants, try sprinkling the leaves with baby powder. Love to Know suggests reapplying baby powder after the rain until the beetle season passes.

8. Deter night-time visitors: Rabbits and beetles aren’t the only critters who’ll shy away from this magic white powder. Raccoons and opossums will steer clear of your vegetables if you surround them with baby powder. The feel of the powder on their paws irritates these critters so they’ll stay away.

9. Coat tools: Keep your hands blister free by adding a coat of baby powder to your tools. The powder will also keep your hands from slipping while you work.

Found this somewhere on the internet the other day. There doesn’t seem to be proof one way or another as to whether this works or not. It can’t hurt and at the end of the day, your short little eye lashes will be nice and soft.

Grow Out Your Eyelashes
Rubbing some Vaseline on your eyelashes at night will help them grow longer. It will also make your lashes look darker and fuller when you don’t feel like putting on mascara.

This cake is light, tasty and just right for those summer barbecues. Thanks to ’12 Tomatoes’ for this one

1 (15.25 oz.) box white cake mix
3 eggs               1/2 cup oil
1 cup water       1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional

1 (3 oz.) package orange jello
1 cup boiling water    1/2 cup cold water

1 (8 oz.) package frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (3.4 oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix

1 cup milk
1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained, garnish

Preheat oven to 350º F or according to cake packaging directions and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Place cake mix in a large bowl and mix in eggs, oil, water and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour into greased baking dish and bake according to package instructions. Remove from oven and let cool 15 minutes, then pierce holes all over cake with a fork. Place jello mix in a large bowl and whisk in boiling water, stirring until jello is fully dissolved. At that point, stir in cold water. Pour jello over the top of cake, so that it fills in the holes you’ve just made, then cover and refrigerate cake for at least 2 hours. Place pudding mix in a separate large bowl and whisk in milk, stirring until mixture has thickened, then fold in frozen whipped topping until fully incorporated. Spread mixture over chilled cake in an even layer and top with drained mandarin oranges. Slice, serve and enjoy!
