We were on vacation in British Columbia a couple of years ago and stayed overnight at Ainsworth Hotsprings. When we went to dinner there was Baked Garlic Cloves on the menu as an appetizer. I love garlic, Ken does not, but we ordered it anyway. When this came to the table, the garlic was sweet and not garlic-y at all (while it was hot). The toes of garlic pop out of the skins easily but if you let it cool down, the strong garlic taste returns. This is an easy recipe. Enjoy.

BAKED GARLIC CLOVES

Take the whole bulb of garlic and cut the top off about 1/4 inch or so… save as much as you can while still exposing the cloves and place flat side down in a roaster or on foil.

Sprinkle top with your choice of herbs and salt. Drizzle with olive oil. Bake at 350 degrees until you start to smell it (about 30 mins) and then let it go another 15 or 20 minutes. it is done when it browns slightly and the cloves are buttery soft.
