Choose, not just Canadian, but specifically Brentwood Classics. Why? They are based in Vaughn, Ontario and take real pride in their product. They do not use MDF, particle board, cardboard or scrap in the manufacture of the frames. They are made from Canadian grown, kiln dried hardwood, corner blocked and a water-based glue is used, and screwed together for a sturdy base. There is a good range of styles, a ton of fabric choices, the foam is soy bean based and is totally renewable. In fact, Brentwood was the first furniture manufacturer in North America to use “green” foam. The fiberfill back cushion foam is made in the plant with a consistent, tried and true recipe. Loose and semi-attached back cushions have a center baffle which keeps the top foam from settling into the bottom foam. The cushions are zippered for access to the fiberfill to switch cushion bags from one end of the sofa to the other or to fluff up the foam to keep a like-new appearance. If there is a stripe or plaid fabric pattern chosen, each pattern piece is cut out separately to ensure all stripes match as perfectly as possible. Each furniture piece is then bench-made, which is; the same person covers the sofa start to finish. One last attention to detail is the self-decking. If you lift the cushions, most manufacturers will cover the deck (flat part under the cushion) with a quilted material to save money…Brentwood Classics uses the same fabric the sofa is made from. The pricing is competitive and affordable and there is a good warranty program.
